"A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.”

Over the last few generations, the lines between the roles of the sexes have become more and more blurred. Where once our grandparents grew up in a society where, for better or worse, roles were clearly defined, and a man knew what his roles were, that is no longer the case. With the liberation from those old stereotypes has come a great freedom for everyone. This freedom has however, left many men floundering for meaning in their lives.

Stepping out onto a spiritual path can be very confusing and challenging for men in our community these days.
When our partners begin exploring the esoteric lands that lie beyond normal everyday rational reason and logical understanding, we can sometimes feel like we are being left behind, and have no idea of if or how we can catch up to them.

As men in a modern world, we can find ourselves being pulled in very different directions simultaneously – how do we be strong and yet being sensitive to the needs of others? How do we provide stability for our families in world that is constantly changing? How do we reconcile these paradoxes and find our way in life?

As men, we very often do not have the tools in our tool box to adequately deal with the emotional challenges we can find confronting ourselves. Our culture, schooling and various occupations have generally not prepared us for the role of being a spiritual being.

A few of the rolls of Shanti Men is to provide the some of the tools that can benefit a male on a spiritual journey and to have a safe and confidential space where  a bloke can talk to other blokes about any aspect of the path, and to get some perspective on where he stands. We understand the conflicts and the questions that may be within you, because we have been there ourselves.

Our commitment is to be there to provide a support structure for all men as they walk their path. We will not judge you or condemn you; because we have all made mistakes, and it is our preparedness to make more, free of the fear of failure in our effort to better understand ourselves.

“No man stands as straight as when he stoops to help a boy.”
